‘Welfare Party of India’ a new political party to be launched today in a convention

New Delhi, April 18: A new political party 'Welfare Party of India' will be launched in a political convention on 'Towards Value Based politics' holding today (April 18) at Mavlankar Hall, Rafi Marg, in the capital.

On the eve of the convention, a new national political party will be launched. Prominent political leaders, thinkers, intellectuals and social activists will address the convention. Today, in a party formation meeting Mr. Mujtaba Farooq has been elected as the all India President of the Party.


"We are forming a political outfit namely Welfare Party," convenor Dr. S Q R Ilyas said. "During the Monday conference, we will discuss on politics and the announcement could be made on that day," Ilyas told agency. He said people need a new political option as corruption in this field is rampant and so "we decided to form a party, which will be devoid of corrupt leaders." He asserted the party will not only represent Muslims but also other minorities and weaker sections of the society.

"We will also raise issues of national interest and inclusive development." The leaders who will address the convention, apart from Mr. Farooq and Dr. Ilyas, are former Member of Parliament Ilyas Azmi, Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, Maulana Abdul Wahab Khilji, Smt. Lalita Naik and others.
