Welfare Party executive holds meeting

Hyderabad: Welfare Party of India, launched at Delhi on 18 April, held the first meeting of its Federal Working Committee (FWC) here during 4-5 June. The meeting was attended by 29 members of the FWC’s current strength of 33 members. The meeting, headed by party president Mujtaba Farooq, discussed the current burning issues and formulated party policies towards national and international issues. It also decided to create women and youth wings, as well as special working groups on research, headed by Zafarul-Islam Khan, Dalits & Adivasis, headed by Lalitha Naik,  weavers & artisans, headed by Akhtar Husain Akhtar, religious committee, headed by Maulana Abdul Wahab Khilji, and farmers headed by Ilyas Azmi. Party Secretary General SQR Ilyas informed the members that a premises for the central office has been rented near Kalindi Kunj in South Delhi and it will start functioning within a month. The FWC decided dates for launching the party in various states like Rajasthan, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Gujarat, Bihar, Assam, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh during June-September according to local conditions.
